2023: APC Chieftain Advocates Osinbajo-Zulum Ticket

A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Abubakar Girei, has advocated a Yemi Osinbajo-Babagana Zulum ticket for the party ahead of the 2023 Presidential election.
According to Zukum, the combination will ensure victory for the ruling party.
The Adamawa politician and former senator said if the APC will zone its presidential slot to the south, it would be proper to consider giving the ticket to the serving Vice President to consolidate on the successes of President Muhammadu Buhari.
2023 Presidency: There’s No Zoning In APC Constitution-Senator Shekarau
Girei who spoke on Monday, January 4, in Kaduna State said that choosing the governor of Borno State as Osinbajo’s running mate will help the party to stay in power beyond 2023.
The former senator advised the leadership of the APC to avoid a costly mistake in the choice of a presidential candidate and running mate.
He said though the agitation for a power shift to the southeast is in order, the APC chieftain argued that it is morally right to give it to the southwest because of the support the zone gave to President Buhari in the last election.
Nevertheless, the APC the chieftain said the most deserving of the presidency in 2023 is the northeast followed by the southeast as they have not produced the nation’s president before. He explained that the reason why he supports the southwest is because of a gentlemen’s agreement and the role the zone played in the emergence of Buhari as Nigeria’s president.
