Singer, Omawumi, has refuted Timaya’s claim that Burna Boy once ordered her and another singer, Waje, out of the studio for doubting him.
According to Timaya, Burna Boy had asked the two singers to leave after he predicted he would someday fly private jets, and they reportedly didn’t believe him.
In an interview with Naija FM Lagos, Omawumi denied the incident ever happened and expressed her displeasure at being dragged into the narrative.
“That thing no happen,” she said. “What hurt me the most is that Timaya involved me in a condescending way to praise Burna Boy. Why bring my name into it?”
Omawunmi added that even Burna Boy himself has never made such statements and has always shown her and Waje respect.
She stressed that she has maintained her brand for nearly two decades by avoiding drama and not talking down on colleagues.
“For context, the only time I’ve been in the same space with Burna Boy, Waje, and Timaya was in 2010 when Waje was recording a song with him. I left because it was getting late,” she said.
