Nollywood actress Angela Okorie was recently stripped of her celebrity status.
This happened after fortune frowned on the big screen star, and she was forced to sleep in Yaba Police Station, Panti, Lagos State, on Tuesday, January 27.
The incident follows her arrest at her residence in Lagos by the Nigerian police force cybercrime centre, Abuja.
Okorie was arrested for defaming fellow actress Mercy Johnson. Following her arrest, Okorie was meant to be transferred to Abuja; however, there was no immediate flight to Abuja. She eventually passed the night in a holding cell in Panti and was flown to Abuja on a 6 a.m. flight the following day after her arrest.

Sources reveal that she is currently cooling her heels in custody in an Abuja Police Station pending court proceedings.
It would be recalled that Okorie had made a series of public accusations against Okojie in 2025, describing her as a blood-sucking demon, claiming that the actress’s weight loss was due to a lack of blood to consume rather than diet or fitness efforts.

She further stated that her colleague had used spiritual means to harm her and accused her of blacklisting her within the movie industry, which she said forced her to pursue music.
However, on July 18, 2025, Angela issued a lengthy apology on Instagram, acknowledging that her comments were hurtful and motivated by emotional distress.
She admitted that her previous statements came from a place of pain and regretted the public nature of her remarks. Her apology was, however, rejected by Okojie, who filed a petition against her, hence her arrest.
