***Gas Supply to NGIC Network to Dip

Seplat Energy Plc has announced plans to carry out routine maintenance on its gas production facilities from February 12 to 15, 2026, a move expected to temporarily reduce gas supply into the NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company Limited (NGIC) pipeline network.

The company, a joint venture partner of NNPC Ltd and a major supplier of gas to the NGIC system, said the scheduled maintenance forms part of standard safety and asset integrity procedures aimed at ensuring the long-term reliability and efficiency of critical gas infrastructure.

According to the notice, periodic maintenance is essential to sustain optimal performance, enhance operational resilience, and minimise the risk of unexpected outages across the network.

During the four-day exercise, gas supply into the NGIC pipeline will be temporarily reduced. This may affect some power generation companies that rely on the network for feed gas, potentially leading to a modest dip in electricity generation within the maintenance window.

NNPC Ltd and Seplat Energy said they are working closely to ensure the maintenance is carried out safely and completed on schedule.

In the interim, NNPC Gas Marketing Limited (NGML) is engaging alternative gas suppliers to cushion the anticipated shortfall and maintain supply stability across the network.

Full gas supply into the NGIC system is expected to resume immediately after the maintenance is concluded, allowing affected power plants to return to normal generation levels.

The companies assured stakeholders that further updates will be provided where necessary.
