Relief For Motorist, Commuters As FG Postpones Closure Of Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Motorists who ply the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway have described the postponement of the partial closure of the road as a welcome development.
Initially slated for closure today, the construction work on a stretch of 1.4km between Berger and Kara Market will now commence on Monday, September 2.
According to Ademola Kuti, the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos State, the decision to postpone the partial closure is to enable effective traffic management plan and to show sensitivity to Nigerians.
“The government and the contractor have now reviewed the work plan. The reconstruction of this stretch of the road will now commence on September 2,”
Recall that Kuti had earlier insisted that nothing would stop plans for the partial closure of the road for four months, adding that Nigerians would have to bear the pains if the road must be ready ahead of the heavier traffic envisaged in Christmas.
