Paystack co-founder Ezra Olubi has reacted to the termination of his appointment, describing the process as unfair and inconsistent with the company’s internal policies.
Olubi was dismissed following allegations of sexual misconduct involving a subordinate. In a blog post published on Sunday, November 23, he said the company terminated his appointment before the investigation into the allegations was concluded and without giving him an opportunity to defend himself.
According to him, Paystack initiated what it called an independent investigation after allegations surfaced online in mid-November. However, he said he was removed from his role before the supposed investigation was concluded, and without any meeting, hearing, or opportunity to respond to the issues raised
Olubi described the action as a breach of the company’s established procedures. “My legal team is now reviewing the process that led to my purported termination, including its consistency with internal policies,” he wrote, adding that he would not comment further.
The allegation emerged after an online user accused him of inappropriate conduct with a junior staff member. The claims triggered the resurfacing of some of Olubi’s decade-old tweets, including one referencing inappropriate workplace behaviour.
“The posts being circulated do not reflect my conduct or the way I have lived my life,” he said.
As of the time of filing this report, Paystack has not publicly responded to Olubi’s claims.
