Oyetola

Gboyega Oyetola, has been declared winner of the Osun gubernatorial election by the Supreme Court.

Justice Olabode Rodes-Vivour read the judgement today Friday, July 5.

In a five-to-two decision, the court first dismissed the appeal by candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the election, Senator Ademola Adeleke.

Justice Rodes-Vivour ruled that failure of a member of the election tribunal, Justice Peter Obiora, to sit on February 6, 2019 rendered the entire proceedings and the judgment given by the tribunal a nullity.

As such, the court affirmed the judgement of the court of Appeal, upholding Mr Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the rightfully elected governor of Osun State.
