Ogun Police Arrest Man For Allegedly Setting Wife Ablaze

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a man identified as Olubunmi Johnson.

Johnson was arrested for allegedly setting his wife, Kikelomo on fire in their apartment.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Fagbuyi Street, Ilogbo, in Ota on Friday following a domestic dispute.

It was gathered that a neighbour who witnessed the incident alerted the victim’s relatives, who then informed the police about what is now being investigated as an attempted murder.

A spokesperson for the state police command, SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident to the punch.

Odutola said that police officers from the Ilogbo Division quickly took action, resulting in the arrest of the 55-year-old suspect.

“The husband doused his wife’s body with petrol and set her on fire with a match. Witnesses to the incident immediately rushed her to the hospital,” she stated.

“Upon receiving the report, our detectives quickly took action and arrested the husband, who has since been detained.”
