His Royal Majesty, Oba Babatunde Ogunlaja, has commended the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Epe Branch for organising a training on Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
The Aladeshoyin and paramount ruler of Noforija Kingdom who spoke with The Octopus News at the event, held at the Epe Local Government Secretariat on Monday, July 28, as part of the programmes for the NBA Epe Law Week 2025, described the training carried out by the Institute of Alternative Dispute Resolution Development and Conflict Management (IADRN) as a welcome and long-overdue development.
He noted that the workshop meant for legal practitioners, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders is very unique, adding that in the past, all litigations started from the palace of the monarch.
Oba Ogunlaja stated that it is when the individuals involved are unable to settle the situation that they can then proceed to court. However, he opined that if the monarch involved in the resolution of such an issue is very sincere, the decision he took at the palace, the judgment he gave at the palace would be repeated at the law court.
The monarch, who also donated a plot of land to NBA Epe, revealed that he is impressed with the association currently being led by Dr. S.O. Jimoh. He added that the land he gave the association speaks volumes about how impressed he is with NBA Epe.
