Veteran Nollywood actor, Mr Ibu is dead
The thespian who has been sick for a while died at the age of 62.
His demise was confirmed by the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, on Saturday.
In a post on his Instagram page, Rollas announced Mr Ibu’s death, and also reported the death of the mother of actress, Kate Henshaw.
He wrote: “Sad Day for Actors Guild of Nigeria.
“Kate Henshaw lost her mother earlier today and Mr lbu suffered cardiac arrest according to his manager for 24 years Mr Don Single Nwuzor.
“I announce with deep sense of grief that Mr Ibu didn’t make it.
“May his soul rest in peace.”
Real name John Okafor, the actor who was reportedly amputated in both legs last year is said to have passed on at Evercare Hospital, Lekki, Lagos on Saturday evening.
Before now, he had enjoyed a very suspect health condition with various speculations trailing him before it was confirmed that he bedridden.
In 2019, Mr Ibu alleged that his kinsmen paid some of his domestic workers to poison him because of his successful career.
In May 2022, the comic actor again alleged that he was poisoned for the third time.
