For most patient men, life is all about waiting for the right time.
This theory does not isolate Mohammed Babangida, the son of former military President Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida.

For many years, the dark-complexioned man has existed in the shadows of his father, serving in his role as his right-hand man. His ability to manage his ailing father’s businesses and affairs has never once been in doubt, as seen during the launch of the Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB) Presidential Library project, where he was seen hobnobbing with the high and mighty.
While the responsibilities and privileges attached to the role of being the right-hand person of a man like Babangida are ample, associates of the younger Babangida have always yearned to see him come out in a bigger way.
Babangida’s friends received the answer to their yearning recently when  President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on July 1, 2025,  announced new appointments for some federal agencies, and Babangida was among the names.

The soft-spoken man got a new role, as he was announced as the Chairman of the revamped Bank of Agriculture. Initially trailed by reports that he had rejected the appointment, Babangida has since risen above the negative mention as he focuses on the job ahead.
His first appointment in a public office, there are still questions about the possibility of his being able to deliver on his new role.

Babangida, aged 53, is an alumnus of the European University in Montreux, Switzerland, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Public Relations and Business Communication.

He later attended Harvard Business School’s Executive Program on Corporate Governance in 2002.
