The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has named the duo of Max Air and Air Côte d’Ivoire as the two most notorious airlines in the country.
According to the regulator, this is owing to their knack for ignoring passenger complaints on the domestic and international routes, respectively.
The disclosure was made on Thursday by Michael Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection for NCAA.
Achimugu disclosed in a post on his X handle where he wrote,
“According to NCAA data, Max Air has been the most unresponsive domestic airline per passenger complaints and determinations by the NCAA CPD. In some cases, there have been allegations of threats to travel agencies for daring to report to the CAA.
“This will be put to a stop immediately.
“Internationally, the Ivorian operator, Air Côte d’Ivoire, has been reported for cancelling flights on the days they do not have “enough passengers,” and that they try and merge flights across days to hit their desired figures.” He promised that the NCAA would take swift action in both situations.
Acknowledging the necessity of disruptions in airline operations, “compliance with the regulations is mandatory… not a choice of convenience,” Achimugu noted.
