Spiritual Confusion

By Dr Ope Banwo, Mayor Of Fadeyi

Mr President, with all due respect sir… Nigerians are not mumu anymore.

Every few weeks we hear the same headline: “Our gallant forces have rescued 100 kidnapped children.”

Beautiful. We are happy the children are back.

But sir… where are the kidnappers? Dead or alive?

In other countries, when they “rescue” hostages, we see something:

• Photos of the raid site

• Dead bodies of terrorists

• Or at least a few of them in handcuffs being paraded and prosecuted

In our own Nigeria, we only see buses, handshakes and press statements.

No operation details.

Do kidnappers bodies, dead or Alive

No names.

No faces.

No court cases.

So what exactly is happening?

Did our soldiers suddenly start using invisible bullets and Ife egbe or afeeri technology that my namesake Fadeyi Okoro used to display on those Bollywood movies to sneak in, collect children and sneak out without confronting anybody? We know tih ay be possible since our Yeye Asiwaju, our highly beloved First Lady now has the direct hookup with the source of all Yoruba traditional weapons of warfare . Just tell us what happened

Or did we pay ransom and rebrand it as “rescue”?

Or is this deal in a friendly phone call deal again between our govt and their “kidnapper paddies since Bayo ONANUGA already confirmed they have each other on speed dial

Mr President, Nigerians are living under kidnap terrorism.

You can’t just throw numbers at us and expect automatic applause.

If 100 children are rescued:

• Who captured them?

• How many kidnappers were killed or arrested in in the process ?

• Where are they being tried? What are their names?

We will always rejoice when our children return alive. But we are tired of ghost victories.

So today, on behalf of millions of worried citizens, I’m asking just one simple question sir :

“Mr President… where are the kidnappers, dead or alive?”
