The International Inner Wheel District 911 has unveiled plans to commemorate the 2026 International Women’s Day (IWD) with a special empowerment programme designed to support vulnerable women in the community.
The initiative, themed Give to Gain, will take place on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at the Rotary Centre, 8 Ladoke Akintola Road, GRA Ikeja, Lagos, beginning at 11 a.m.

According to the organisers, the programme will focus on providing financial and material support to five indigent widows as part of efforts to improve their welfare and promote economic stability.

The organisers said the initiative reflects the organisation’s continued commitment to humanitarian service and community development, particularly in addressing the needs of disadvantaged women.
A former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Sinatu Ojikutu, is expected to attend the event as Special Guest, while Olufunke Fowler-Amba will deliver the keynote address as Guest Speaker.
The celebration will also feature a panel discussion focusing on contemporary issues affecting women and the importance of empowerment in building resilient communities.
Panelists scheduled to participate in the discussion include Mary Obadina, Temitope Kayode-Ojo, and Oyenike Adeosun, all of whom are expected to share insights from their professional and leadership experiences.
District Chairman of Inner Wheel District 911, Omolola Fakeye, said the programme was carefully designed to combine education, empowerment and meaningful engagement.
Fakeye explained that the event aims to move beyond discussions about women’s empowerment by delivering tangible assistance to individuals who need it most.
She noted that the initiative also provides an opportunity for young people to learn about leadership, service and the importance of supporting vulnerable members of society.
According to her, students from several senior secondary schools have been invited to attend the programme in order to expose them to conversations around social responsibility and women’s empowerment.
International Women’s Day, observed globally on March 8 each year, celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women while also advocating greater progress toward gender equality.
Through programmes such as the “Give to Gain” initiative, International Inner Wheel District 911 said it hopes to reinforce the organisation’s mission of promoting friendship, encouraging personal service and fostering international understanding through humanitarian activities.
International Inner Wheel remains one of the world’s largest women’s voluntary service organisations, with members across numerous countries working on projects aimed at improving lives and strengthening communities.
