Concerns are growing within parts of Ibadan’s real estate sector following reports of alleged disruptions at construction sites involving Yoruba activist Sunday Adeyemo.
According to sources within the property development community, the activist popularly known as Sunday Igboho was recently seen at a construction site in Ibadan accompanied by several associates. Witness accounts claim that activities at the site were temporarily halted during the visit.

The incident, which reportedly occurred on Monday, has since prompted discussions among developers operating in the city about security and the need for clearer channels for resolving disputes involving land and construction projects.
Individuals who said they witnessed the incident alleged that Igboho and members of his entourage arrived at the site in a convoy of vehicles and engaged with workers and representatives of the company involved. However, the exact nature of the discussion and the circumstances leading to the visit remain unclear.
Some witnesses further claimed that statements were made suggesting support from traditional authorities in Ibadan. The monarch referenced in those claims is the Olubadan of Ibadanland. However, there has been no official confirmation that the traditional ruler authorized or endorsed any such actions.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the palace nor representatives of Igboho had issued a public statement regarding the allegations.
The development has reportedly prompted the real estate company involved to explore legal options. Sources familiar with the matter say the firm has contacted legal representatives and may file petitions to relevant authorities, including law enforcement agencies.
Industry stakeholders say the situation highlights broader concerns about the need for stronger institutional mechanisms to address disputes that may arise in Nigeria’s rapidly expanding real estate sector.
Ibadan, one of the country’s fastest-growing property markets, has seen increased investment in residential estates and land development projects in recent years. Analysts say such growth can sometimes lead to disagreements over land ownership, community relations, and development rights.
Observers say the outcome of the petitions reportedly being prepared by the affected firm could determine whether the matter proceeds to formal investigation by relevant authorities.
Efforts to obtain comments from Igboho’s representatives and officials of the company mentioned were unsuccessful as of press time.
