Nigerians on X are calling for the head of Reno Omokri for justifying the monumental failure of the Prof. Ishaq Oloyede-led Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Recall that earlier today, Wednesday, May 14, while apologizing at a press conference in Abuja for the errors in the 2025 UTME Oloyede broke into tears, as he apologized for the trauma caused the candidates.
Following Oloyede’s admission of “one or two errors” made during the 2025 UTME, Omokri took to X to state that if JAMB could not effectively organise hitch-free exams for only 1.5 million students, how could anyone think the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), could conduct simultaneous elections involving 93 million registered voters without recording hitches.
Also, Omokri stated that elections are not a piece of cake where people condemn INEC when things do not go as planned and the electoral umpire has to take extraordinary measures to ensure that elections are held and results are declared.
He added that what JAMB is going through should give perspective, as mass elections and exams are not easy, especially in a country like Nigeria, where citizens undermine institutions and then accuse them of having integrity issues, noting that even in the United States, there are issues with elections, despite their advanced technology.
Interestingly, his statement didn’t attract positive vibes, as X users took turns calling him out for his unpopular opinion.
In his reactions to Omokri’s position, Ayodele called for the sack of Oloyede, adding that his crying on television is not a sign of pity, but a sign of guilt that he cannot handle a simple task.
On his part, Joachin Alexius Ehi called for Oloyede to take a bow after all these JAMB brouhaha. Ehi added that over the years, Oloyede had done so many things with innovations including curbing malpractice and even developing CAPs.
He urged Oloyede not to mar his records with this event.
