While Oyegun is the All Progressive Congress (APC), Chairman, Tinubu is widely acknowleged as a very powerful chieftain of the party.

Political analysts who have x-rayed the issue between the two have been quick to say that politicking and experience will come to play in the race to decide who wins the heart of the party.
While Tinubu has been noted for his shrewd politicking, Oyegun based on antecedents has been described a more experienced politician.
One major point which has been identified remains that while Tinubu was a Senator, Oyegun was already an Executive Governor of Edo.
