Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, the Awujale of Ijebuland, has passed away at the age of 91. His death occurred on Sunday, coinciding with the announcement by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu regarding the passing of former president Muhammadu Buhari, a longtime friend of the monarch.
Oba Adetona was renowned for being one of Nigeria’s longest-reigning traditional rulers, having ascended to the throne in 1960. He was widely regarded as a respected voice among Yoruba monarchs and had a significant influence across the nation.
