Artistes Are No Longer Doing Afrobeat-Sound Sultan

Naija Ninja artiste, Sound Sultan, has stated that the songs presently being tagged ‘Afrobeat’ by Nigerian artistes are actually Hip-hop or Dancehall, done in an Afro way.
Speaking during an interview, Sound Sultan said, “What we are doing now is not Afrobeat. I will call it Hip-hop in Afro way or Dancehall in Afro way.”
Further, he said that the first definition of Afrobeat is Orlando Julius and Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. The singer, who is famous for many hit songs including ‘Mathematics’ released years back, revealed that most artistes try to appear deep by giving the impression that their songs are inspired by legends such as the late Fela, hence they call it Afrobeat.
