Pope Robert Provost of America has been elected the new Pope.
He will be addressed as Pope Leo XIV and replaces the deceased Pope Francis.
Pope Leo XIV, is America’s first ever Pope and will now head the Catholic church.
In his first comments, the new Pope called for the light of Christ to serve “as the bridge” to God’s love, addressing the church of Rome, while alao thanking his former diocese in Chiclayo in Peru.
In his first comments in Italian, Pope Leo XIV said he wants this message of peace to “enter hearts, to reach families and all people, wherever they are.”
He also paid tribute to Pope Francis, urging faithful to “move forward, without fear, united, hand in hand with God and with each other.”
