Wema Bank is set to usher in a new phase of digital banking with the launch of an upgraded version of its flagship digital platform, ALAT, scheduled to go live in January 2026.
Tagged “ALAT: The Evolution,” the upgraded platform represents a significant leap forward in Wema Bank’s digital banking journey, reinforcing its position as a trailblazer in Africa’s financial technology space. The new version is designed to redefine user experience while setting a fresh benchmark for innovation within the banking industry.

According to the bank, “ALAT: The Evolution” builds on everything customers already appreciate about the platform, while introducing smarter, faster, and more personalised features. The redesign focuses on improved intuitiveness and responsiveness, enabling users to complete transactions seamlessly and efficiently.

A major highlight of the upgrade is the introduction of “SAW (Smart ALAT by Wema)”, an artificial intelligence-powered assistant integrated into the ALAT app. SAW is designed to understand user behaviour, provide intelligent support, and enhance overall customer interaction with the platform, reflecting the growing role of AI in modern banking.
From faster interactions to deeper personalisation, the upgraded ALAT demonstrates how digital banking continues to evolve when innovation is driven by purpose and customer needs. The bank noted that the new platform is not just an update, but a strategic reimagining of digital banking experiences in Nigeria and beyond.
