The Africa International Christian Film Festival (AICFF) has announced June 3–6, 2026, as the official dates for its maiden edition, scheduled to hold in Abuja, Nigeria.

Conceived as a continental platform for faith-based storytelling, AICFF aims to amplify Christian films from Africa and around the world while strengthening production quality, professional training, distribution, and market access for Christian content creators within the continent.

The festival is expected to usher in a new chapter for Christian cinema in Africa by providing a structured space for filmmakers, industry professionals, and faith-based institutions to engage, collaborate, and showcase compelling stories rooted in biblical values and cultural relevance.

According to the organisers, the four-day festival will feature curated film screenings from Africa and the global Christian film community, alongside panel discussions, industry conversations, professional workshops, and specialised training sessions. A Christian Film Market will also form a key part of the event, connecting filmmakers with distributors, broadcasters, streaming platforms, and content buyers.

Speaking on the vision behind the initiative, the Festival Convener, Ambassador Bright Wonder Obasi, said AICFF was established to serve as both a gateway for global Christian films into Africa and a launchpad for African faith-inspired stories to reach international audiences.

Obasi noted that selected films will be showcased to international festival partners, Christian media networks, broadcasters, distributors, streaming platforms, industry leaders, and faith-based institutions, creating pathways for wider visibility and commercial opportunities.

AICFF has opened its call for submissions, inviting Christian filmmakers from Africa and across the world to submit feature films, documentaries, short films, animations, and other faith-inspired content that demonstrate excellence in storytelling and uphold Christian values.

With Africa’s rapidly expanding Christian population and creative economy, the festival aims to position the continent as a recognised global hub for Christian cinema.

Film submissions are currently open via FilmFreeway, with a deadline of March 31, 2026.
