Access Bank Offers To Pay Customer’s Stamp Duty Charges

Amidst reactions from customers of Acess Bank concerning stamp duty charges deducted from their account, the financial institution has announced that it will now pay off the charges.
Recall that the social media was agog on Saturday, June 28, with the financial institution’s customer claiming that monies had been withdrawn from their accounts.
At the heat of the complaints, online customer care representatives attempted to explain the debit witnessed.
The bank has now stated that it will take the responsibility of paying what was debited from the customer’s account.
The bank via an official statement stated that it will reverse all deductions made between Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, Junee 28.
In a statement on Sunday, June 28, the bank said it recognised that it is a tough period for customers.
In an earlier statement, the bank had notified customers that it did not deduct stamp duty charges on transactions that occurred between February 1, 2020, and April 30, 2020, hence the deductions.
The 2019 finance act provides that bank customers pay a N50 stamp duty charge on every N10,000 deposit.
