Nigeria Not Difficult To Manage–Obasanjo

Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has stated that while Nigeria is complex, it is not difficult to govern.
Speaking recently at a lecture in Lagos, Obasanjo emphasized the importance of integrity, saying, “You have to be honest with yourself, Nigeria, and your God.”
Obasanjo, who served as President from 1999 to 2007, expressed confidence in his leadership, asserting that he had fulfilled his responsibilities to the nation during his tenure.
“When I was in office, I did everything I needed to do for Nigeria, and I can proudly say that. When I took over as an elected president, Nigeria had N3.7 billion in reserves, while we were spending N3.5 billion on debt servicing. I knew we needed debt relief, so I pursued it – and we succeeded.”
He continued, “We not only secured relief from a substantial debt of N3.36 billion but also managed to reduce the debt burden to N3.6 billion. By the time I left office, we had over N25 billion in excess crude savings and more than N45 billion in reserves.”
