Ogun state local government chairmen prostrate to beg Governor Dapo Abiodun for forgiveness after one of them accused him of diverting local government funds (video)

This comes after a video of some Ogun State local government chairmen prostrating to beg him surfaced.

According to observers, the chairmen stormed the Ogun State government house to be Governor Abiodun for forgiveness after one of them accused him of diverting local government funds.

The Chairman of Ijebu East Local Government Area in Ogun State, Wale Adedayo, had made the allegation on Sunday, August 27, in a letter addressed to a former governor, Aremo Olusegun Osoba.

He accused Abiodun of withholding more than N17billion statutory Federal Allocation due to the state’s Local Governments in the last two years.

Adedayo stated that there has been zero Federal Allocation to each local government since they got on board in 2021. He asked Osoba to urgently wade in, and convince Abiodun to allow the statutory Federal Allocation to Local Governments in Ogun State should be allowed to reach each of them as envisaged by the 1999 Constitution.

Following the controversy that the allegation caused, some local government chairmen stormed the government house in Abeokuta to beg Governor Abiodun over the “embarrassment” it caused him.
