Nigerian Arrested With 60 Grams Of Mephedrone In India

A Nigerian man and his Indian associate have been arrested in Hyderabad, India with 60 grams of mephedrone, a synthetic drug.
The disclosure was made by the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (central zone) Ramana Reddy. Reddy said Chukwuemeka and Sohail Ahmed Mohamed Hassan Shaik were caught on Friday, May 26, 2023, after they came to Hyderabad from Mumbai.
Sixty sachets, each containing one gram of the stimulant drug, were recovered. Each gram of the drug was being sold at 8,000, the police said.
Acting on a tip-off, police nabbed Sohail at Nampally railway station. Based on the clues provided by him, Chukwuemeka was caught at Lakdikapul who was in possession of 20 grams of mephedrone.
“Chukwuemeka did his MBA in Nigeria. Later, he came to India on a business visa and was doing food supply business in Mumbai and later got into the sale of drugs,” police said.
Police officials said Sohail runs footwear business in Mumbra in Thane district. The duo came to Hyderabad to supply the drug to customers.
“We will question them further and check their phones to know who are their suppliers in Mumbai and customers in Hyderabad,” a police official said.
The accused came to Hyderabad in a train by carrying the drugs, he said.
As Chukwuemeka’s income from food supply business was not sufficient, he got into the supply of drugs at Kharghar area in Mumbai by procuring the drugs from his Nigerian friends, police said.
It was learnt that the Nigerian friends operate as drug dealers at Khargar, Taluja and Vashi areas.
