A witness has testified that Andrew Ominikoron, a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) driver is the killer of Oluwabamise Ayanwole.

Recall that Ayanwole was murdered around 7pm between Lekki Ajah Expressway and Carter Bridge on 26 February, 2022.

Testifying in court, Superintendent of Police, Goddy Ihende, on Monday, told a Lagos State High Court that Ominikoron had sexual intercourse with Ayanwole without her consent and murdered her.

He stated further that the Police conducted a forensic examination on the BRT vehicle driven by the murder suspect, Ominikoron, adding that it would take time to get the result of the forensic analysis.

He disclosed this while being cross-examined by the defence counsel, Abayomi Omotubora.

The officer, who is the seventh prosecution witness, said the defendant picked up the victim from Chevron Bus Stop instead of the designated BRT park.

Ominikoron is standing trial for the murder of the 22-year-old fashion designer, Ayanwole, whom he carried on his bus on 26 February, 2022.

He said: “In my earlier answer, I said the defendant was not supposed to pick up a passenger that is not at the BRT Bus Stop but he went ahead and did that because he didn’t want to remit the money to the Lagos State Government’s account.”

Asked if during the course of investigation he found out whether the victim paid any fare for boarding the vehicle, the witness said the person who would have answered that was deceased (Bamise).

The prosecution said the defendant had sexual intercourse with Ayanwole without her consent and murdered her around 7pm between Lekki Ajah Expressway and Carter Bridge on 26 February, 2022.

The case was adjourned till 12 December, for continuation of trial.
