2023: Tambuwal Withdraws From PDP Presidential Primary

Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has withdrawn from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primary.
Tambuwal withdrew from the race after a negotiation with presidential aspirant, Atiku Abubakar.
Announcing his withdrawal at the ongoing National Convention and presidential primaries, Tambuwal asked delegates and his supporters to support the former vice president, Abubakar.
“Time has come for us to make sacrifices in the interest of our party and our nation. I have come to the conclusion that I have to step down,” he said.
With Tambuwal supporting Abubakar, the Turakin Adamawa is expected to get the support of delegates from Sokoto State and other neighbouring states who had already supported Tambuwal before his withdrawal.
