Erstwhile governor of Oyo State, Christopher Alao Akala is dead.

Akaka died at the age of 71.

While details of his death remain sketchy, it was confirmed that he died last night after returning from Abuja.

A popular grassroots politician, Akala was Governor of Oyo State between 2007 and 2011.
