Zabarmari Killings: Residents Reveal Why Farmers Were Beheaded By Boko Haram

Residents of Zabarmari in Borno State have revealed the reason behind the recent beheading of 43 rice farmers.
According to emerging reports from the area, the recent killing was a reprisal attack by a Boko Haram faction loyal to Abubakar Shekau.
According to sources in the community, the insurgents carried out the killings after residents arrested a member of the group on Friday, November 27, and handed him over to security agencies.
The insurgent who was arrested was said to have visited Zabarmari to ask for food for him and members of his group.
A member of the community said other insurgents were infuriated about the incident and attacked farmers in the community in retaliation on Saturday, November 28.
Narrating how the farmers were killed, a source said the farmers working on their fields were rounded and taken to another location where they were executed.
A resident, Abubakar Yunus whose sons were among those killed by the insurgents He said: “They slaughtered my sons in my presence.”
