Boko Haram: Self-Planted Bomb Kills Seven

At least seven members of the Boko Haram group were killed by a self-planted bomb in Lamba’a forest in Borno state, while another were seriously injured.
The members of the group were reportedly killed by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) they planted for soldiers.
Confirming the incident, Colonel Aminu Iliyasu, Nigerian Army Operations media coordinator, said that some other terrorists were seriously wounded from the incident, adding that Nigerian troops also arrested some people who smuggled fish from Chad to Nigeria for sale.
A statement from Iliyasu said the incident happened on Friday, October 18, adding that “some marauding Boko Haram criminals elements who were escaping the unbearable battle heat turned on them by Nigerian Army troops met their Waterloo as one of their vehicles, a Toyota Sam Sahara Model, stepped on an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) laid by them against NA troops at Lamba’a forest along Jakana – Mainok Road in Borno State. “The self-inflicted destruction consumed seven Boko Haram criminals while eight others suffered severe injuries.
“Consequently, troops have mobilized to the general area for route clearance and mop-up operation.”
The statement also added that in another development, a syndicate who specialised in smuggling smoked fish from the Lake Chad region for sale in some parts of Nigeria were arrested by troops of the Operation Lafiya Dole. According to the Nigerian Army, information at its disposal showed that Boko Haram criminals/Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) and their collaborators used the fish business to finance and sustain their heinous activities.
