Critics Slam Oba Of Lagos

“It was pride that changed angels into devils; it is humility that makes men as angels.”
This quote by Saint Augustine is one which the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Aremu Akiolu is oblivious of.
In the past, Akiolu, had courted controversies with his utterances, but this time it is his actions that has raised eyebrows.
Unlike in the past, when his rude actions had gone without reactions, criticism has been the order of the day for the Olowo Eko following his embarrassment of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi at a public function.
Drama started when the Ooni arrived the event, and in order of their sitting exchanged pleasantries with the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Achebe. As he made to exchange pleasantries with Oba Akiolu who was seated next to the Obi of Onitsha he was snubbed by the Lagos monarch who simply waved him on with his hands.
Those have reacted to Akiolu’s action have criticized him with critics wondering how a monarch would descend so low.
