The Boy-Child Transformation Centre (BTC), a leading social intervention and advocacy platform, has announced plans to host its 5th Anniversary Transformation Summit on May 16, 2026, in Ikoyi, Lagos.

The summit is expected to bring together corporate leaders, policymakers, educators, parents, and mental health advocates to confront what organisers describe as a growing but underreported crisis—the systemic decline of the boy-child and its implications for families, communities, and future leadership.BTC

A major highlight of the event will be the unveiling of UNBOXED: Shaping the Boy-Child for True Manhood, a new book by BTC Founder and growth strategist, Nkiruka Moghalu-Joel. The publication is positioned as a practical guide aimed at addressing gaps in emotional development, parenting, and leadership formation among boys.

According to Moghalu-Joel, the book challenges what she describes as the “Macho Box”—a rigid social construct that discourages emotional expression, equates vulnerability with weakness, and pushes boys toward harmful coping mechanisms.

“For too long, there has been a dangerous assumption that the boy-child will simply find his way. The reality is far different—many are struggling in silence,” she said.

She added that limiting boys’ emotional development has broader consequences, warning that it contributes to instability within homes, weakens community structures, and undermines future leadership capacity.

“UNBOXED is not just a book; it is a call to action. It offers a structured approach to raising boys with empathy, resilience, and the freedom to develop into well-rounded individuals,” she said.

The summit will also feature the finale of the Walk-in-My-Shoes (WIMS) Challenge, where young participants will present practical, peer-driven solutions to societal pressures affecting boys. The winner of the challenge will receive a ₦1,000,000 grand prize.

Organisers say the BTC@5 Summit aims to shift conversations around the boy-child from passive concern to deliberate and strategic intervention.
