The Onikoyi of Yorubaland further explained the cultural and historical relevance of his title, noting that the Aare Onikoyi remains the foremost among all Onikoyi across the world and serves as the head of the ancient Yoruba war clan — a lineage famed for courage and valor during the old Oyo Empire.
He commended the Alaafin for his exemplary leadership and described the visit as a mark of trust and continued royal guidance.
In his remarks, Oba Owoade expressed delight at visiting one of his most notable chiefs, whom he praised for consistently upholding the values and traditions of the Yoruba monarchy.
“As a king, I have always worked in collaboration with my chiefs. I believe that when we work together, we can advance the Yoruba nation and make the kingdom stronger,” the monarch said.
The Alaafin also emphasized the importance of unity among Yoruba leaders, describing Aare Williams as a dependable chief who continues to live up to expectations and contribute meaningfully to the progress of the Yoruba race.
