Ahead of what has been described as a major chance to rejuvenate Nigeria’s World Cup qualification chances, Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong, has stated that the team will do their best to secure maximum points against the Cheetahs of Benin Republic.

Coached by Éric Chelle, Super Eagles currently sit in third position in Group C with 14 points from nine matches. They must beat Benin and hope South Africa drops points against Rwanda to secure qualification.

Speaking at a press conference, Troost-Ekong acknowledged that their fate is not entirely in their hands but pledged a hard-fought performance to win the match.

“There are players here who want to make names for themselves, and those who will want their names to go down well in history. So, they are fully prepared and will play to win,” Troost-Ekong said.

“Tomorrow may not be 100 per cent in our hands, but we try to do our best and win the match,” he said.

Meanwhile, Coach Chelle has said that the Super Eagles will give everything they have to secure a decent win over the Cheetahs of Benin Republic.
