With his war chest of cash many gave Obong Umana Umana a chance in the recently held Akwa Ibom State gubernatorial election.
Obong Umana’s antecedents as secretary to the state government and commissioner for finance also meant he had the experience required.
Having fallen out of the fancy of Governor Godswill Akpabio, Umana aligned himself with All Progressives Congress (APC), and continued his march to become the next governor of Akwa Ibom State.
Alas, he failed to win the election, as Udom Emmanuel won the election seeing Obong Umana wasting several millions of naira.
The defeat has seen Obong Umana withdrew into his shell, even as many speculate that there might just be a light at the end of the tunnel for him with his party’s victory at the national level.
Only time will tell if Obong Umana will bounce back again.
