Ahead of the 2027 presidential election, the coalition members have officially adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as their official political platform.
The adoption took place on Monday, July 1, as its members get set to unveil the party today, July 2, at a ceremony in Abuja.
Among the party officials are former Senate President David Mark who was named the coalition’s national chairman upon the adoption of ADC.
Others are former Osun State Governor and Interior Minister Rauf Aregbesola who was named national secretary, and former Sports Minister Bolaji Abdullahi named the party’s spokesperson.
A few well-known PDP leaders who attended the coalition meeting urged other party members to join the alliance in advance of the 2027 election.
The PDP leaders who attended the meeting, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Governor of Jigawa State Sule Lamido, former Foreign Affairs Minister Tom Ikimi, former Nigerian Ambassador to China Aminu Wali, and former PDP National Chairman Uche Secondus, urged a reconsideration of the current political climate.
According to them, Nigeria and Nigerians had been let down by both the ruling APC and the opposition PDP.
Following a lengthy meeting that ended just after midnight, the coalition made significant progress toward its goal of overthrowing the ruling APC and playing a significant role in the general election of 2027.
