Obasa’s Impeachment: Release Detained Lawmakers Immediately, Group To DSS

The socio-political group, United Action for Democracy (UAD), has urged the Department of State Services (DSS) to release lawmakers detained in Lagos, following the removal of former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa.
In a statement issued on Thursday, January 30 and spotted by www.theoctopusnews.com, the group demanded the immediate release of Hon. Abiodun Tobun (Epe 1), Hon. Gbolahan Yishawu (Eti-Osa 2), Hon. Femi Saheed (Kosofe 2), Hon. Kehinde Joseph, and others, insisting that their detention was unwarranted.
The development follows a press conference by Obasa, in which he argued that his removal was unconstitutional. Meanwhile, on Monday, the lawmakers reaffirmed that Rt. Hon. Mojisola Meranda remains the Speaker of the Assembly.
The group urged relevant authorities to act swiftly and ensure the detained lawmakers regain their freedom without further delay.
