Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has named Senator Yusuf Datti Ahmed as his running mate in the 2023 general election.
This is according to information from Obi’s followers on micro-blogging site, Twitter.
Senator Datti Ahmed replaced Dr. Doyin Okupe; who had earlier announced that he would be standing down as Obi’s running mate.
Prior to the unveiling of Datti Ahmed as Obi’s running mate, Okupe had stated that he was holding the position as a place-holder; in order to ensure that the LP met the deadline of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the submission of names for the vice presidential candidates.
Datti Ahmed is a Nigerian economist and politician who served as Senator for Kaduna North from 2011 to 2012. He was also a member of the House of Representatives from 2003 to 2007. He is the founder of Baze University Abuja, Baba-Ahmed University Kano and Baze University Hospital.
