2023: Matawalle’s Planned Defection Tears Zamfara APC Apart
A planned defection by Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle is tearing the state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) apart.
According to a report, Governor Matawalle is set to dump the PDP for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The quest to get a second term in office in 2023 is said to be the major reason behind the governor’s move to the APC.
According to the report, the source said the governor has been told that there’s no guarantee of a second term if he remains in the PDP.
Matawalle’s race to secure the governorship ticket of the APC is already causing ripples in the Zamfara State chapter of the party.
A source reportedly said Zamfara has always aligned politically with the party at the centre, adding that Matawalle was told in clear terms that for him to run and get a second term, he has to defect to the APC.
The state executive, however, insisted that they are in the dark about the planned defection of Governor Matawalle from the PDP.
