2020 Ramadan Kicks Off Tomorrow-Sultan of Sokoto

The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has given the nod for the commencement of the 2020 Ramadan.
Abubakar who doubles as the President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), stated this after the confirmation of the sighting of a new moon.
Abubakar made the announcement on Thursday, April 23, adding that Ramadan will start on Friday, April 24.
Ramadan which is regarded as a holy month is the period when Muslims observe fasting and prayers. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, Muslims across the country will not be able to perform the special evening prayers, known as the Taraweeh. They have been advised to pray in their homes.
