Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello, has said he won’t receive the COVID-19 vaccine because he does not need it.

He made the statement when he spoke on a political programme. Bello said he won’t be taking the vaccine because he is healthy.

According to him, he does not have any medical condition that requires him to take the vaccine.

“As far as I am concerned, I as a person, I don’t need to take vaccines. There is nothing wrong with me, I am hale and hearty. I am 100 per cent healthy…I won’t take any vaccine.”

Bello pointed out that he will not allow the people of Kogi State to be used as guinea pigs. The politician explained that people who wish to take the COVID-19 vaccine in Kogi State will be allowed to do so, but the state government will not make it mandatory.

Meanwhile, the federal government has flagged-off the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination exercise at the National Hospital, Abuja.

The exercise will officially commence after the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and Chairman, Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, officially declares the event open.

The vaccines have already undergone final assessment by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
