The dreams of the Managing Director of Capital Oil and Gas, Ifeanyi Uba of becoming the next governor of Anambra State might have hit the rocks.
Sources close to the businessman revealed to www.theoctopusnew.com that the ambition of Uba suffered a setback due to current negative happenings in his life.  In recent times, Uba has had reasons to be called several negative names and has been a target of investigations by the Police Special Fraud Unit in a scam that is estimated to the tune of 21billion naira.

Some of the alleged frauds which Uba has been fingered in include the oil subsidy scam.  Apart from that issue, the Chief Executive Officer of Coscharis Motors, Cosmas Maduka severally described Ifeanyi Uba as an ‘international fraudster’ over a multi billion naira business deal that left a bitter taste in the mouth of Maduka.

On Tuesday, March 30 2013, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) operatives swooped on Ifeanyi Uba and arrested him at his Maitama, Abuja home where he was taken to their office for interrogations over another 11billion naira subsidy fraud he allegedly committed.
Though Uba claimed he was not arrested by the EFCC, that he only went to the anti graft office to honour an invitation. In his words,” the invitation by EFCC is routine and there is nothing wrong about that. I drove them in my car to their office and we exchanged pleasantries which lasted for more than 30 minutes and I left
“So anybody who is claiming that I was arrested is only trying to smear my image and tell white lies. Those who have nothing doing dwell in rumours and hearsay and it does not speak well of them”.
But contrary to Uba’s claim, the spokesperson of the EFCC, Wilson Uwajaren stated that ”He (Uba) was not invited, he was arrested and interrogated by our operatives in connection with the subsidy fraud. He was released on administrative bail to come back.”
According to a security report, Ifeanyi Uba’s latest arrest is connected with a recent petition filed by the nation’s Debt Management Office (DMO) to the Police Special Fraud Unit and the EFCC to reopen the fraud case against him.
While facing multiple fraud investigations, the controversial oil mogul is throwing money around in Anambra State to be the next governor of the state in 2014 after the expiration of incumbent governor, Peter Obi’s term. Presently, the people of Anambra state have categorized Uba as a liability in Nigeria’s political sphere, as they insist they don’t want a governor that has several court cases and multiple investigations by the EFCC and SFU as their governor.
