Suspension: Supreme Court To Deliver Judgement On Onnoghen’s Suspension

Judgement on the matter concerning the suspension of Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen will be given on May 17.

The Cross River state government is seeking to set aside the six-count charge of non-assets declaration preferred against the suspended CJN Justice Onnoghen by the federal government.

The suit with number SC/45/2019, dated January 22nd 2019, was filed by the Attorney General of Cross River State on behalf of the state government, is challenging Onnoghen ’s suspension and trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).

Recall that Onnoghen was suspended from office by President Buhari in January this year after he was accused of falsely declaring his assets since he assumed office in March 2017. Onnoghen is an indigene of Cross Rivers state.

The suit has the Federal Republic of Nigeria (FRN) and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) as defendants.
