Rotimi Amaechi Celebrates

Leader

Born on May 27, 1965 in Ubima, Ikwerre Local Government area of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, turned 53 last Sunday.

A man of uncommon wisdom, political sagacity and prowess, the story of the man is worthy of telling again and again, as it is indeed inspirational.

Hardly from a family of opulence, Amaechi, from an underprivileged and modest background experienced real hardship and challenges that helped to shape his perception of life.

Described as a political leader, a humanist, administrator par excellence among others, the man’s road to where he is today definitely wasn’t always platted with gold.

Ordinarily, turning 53 years old shouldn’t be a big deal for an individual like the Honourable Minister of Transportation; however circumstances have since made each day worthy of celebration.

The circumstances, perhaps, are what makes the man quick to tell those who don’t know him thus “I was not from a rich home. I used to pick food from Olu Obasanjo road; Man must ‘wack’ as we called it then. I hawked at different times for my parents in this city.”
