For the president of the Performing Musician Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Hajia Dangaji, Saturday, June 29, will linger in her mind for a while.
This is because that was the day she chose to pay a courtesy visit to the ailing musician and producer, OJB.
Speaking to www.theoctopus.com, she said it was necessary to show the artiste that he was not alone in his struggle for survival, as the association is behind him. In her word: “I am happy to see smiles on the face of OJB because it means God still has a lot of things to do in his life,” adding that although she had never met the artiste before, she was expecting to meet an old man, but was surprised to meet young man. Dangaji said it is obvious that OJB still has a lot to contribute to the industry and that only good health can guarantee his return.
When www.theoctopus.com sought to know her advice to the wife of the musician, she said she was proud of the artiste’s wife, as she has been able to manage the situation well. “Other women would have abandoned their husband at this stage because they will claim inability to cope but this lady is still standing by her man,” she said.
The PMAN president called on the federal and state governments to come to the aide of the producers, saying they should not withdraw any planned support, as is being rumoured, as OJB needs all the support he can get at the moment. She called on every sector of the entertainment industry including the movie to rally round to save one of its own.
During a recent visit to the producer, he told www.theoctopus.com that he would be travelling to India at the end of July.
According to him, India was chosen over Israel because of the promptness with which they attend to patients. When asked if it was not dangerous to delay the trip and why he did not travel immediately, he said it was necessary to do some more dialysis to clean his system before taking the trip.
Although he looks frail and weak, the entertainer still has a sense of humour, as he specifically asked for a photo session.
