There is no honour for a King without a Queen, so says a Yoruba adage.

This line was also made popular by a musician who maintained the same position in one of his hit song.

However, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, and his cronies have maintained that the heritage of the Yoruba clan cannot be stained.

Ooni Ogunwusi, was a lone ranger when he recently joined other monarchs and elitist guests to party at the 80th birthday celebration of Oba Abiodun Oniru.

The party had in attendance heavy weights from all works of life including personalities such as President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote; Lotto business, Adebutu Kesington, and several others.

Clad in his typical white attire, the Ojaja II was all by himself, devoid of any female companion as he made merry with guests at the event.

Ooni Ogunwusi, mingled with friends such as Oba Saheed Elegushi, and the Akinsiku of Lagos, as they grinned over a topic very likely to be funny.

The birthday party was one of the first events in which the Ooni would step out bereft of a Queen by his side, but it definitely wasn’t going to be the last, as a recent event where President Muhammadu Buhari hosted royal fathers also saw the Ooni devoid of his Queen when he attended.

In the past and prior to the Ooni Ogunwusi sending off his Queen, Olori Wuraola packing the two were always an item, as they attended parties together. They even travelled out of the country severally, as the Queen was always beside her King complementing him.

All that has changed now, as Ooni Ogunwusi at least till the Oracles unveil his new Queen will have to function as a King without a Queen. How long this will last remains to be seen.
