Wonders shall never cease. While the spirit of the late Abibatu Mogaji is trying to rest in peace some people in the ruling party in Lagos State are busy reaping millions from a fraud that has emanated via the death of the woman.

The National Leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, must read this.

www.theoctopusnews.com was informed that a local government chairman in the state has single handedly withdrew N7 million from her council’s account on the false pretence that she was going to spend it for the burial of the late Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji, mother of the ACN National Leader.

Investigation revealed that the council boss, a woman, immediately Mogaji’s death was officially made public, called the council treasurer on the need to release the money which she alleged was part of the contribution of council chairmen to the third day Firdau for the late leader of market men and women in the country.

The council chairman, a princess of an Awori town whose name is synonymous with the council name, allegedly insisted that the money should be taken from the excess crude oil money just released to local governments and local council development areas in the state.

When we spoke with some council bosses in the state, they were emphatic in their response that nobody has asked them to contribute money for the burial of Tinubu’s mother.

“For me, I’m busy paying contractors and awarding contracts for projects that will enhance the lives of my people positively with the excess crude oil money. Nobody has asked us to contribute money for Mama’s burial,” one of the council bosses said.

Another council chairman stated that what each council did and would do on the burial was individual and it mostly centres on sponsoring party leaders and market men and women to the burial ceremony.

“We hired buses for them and maybe gave them token to cater for their food and drinks and certainly this does not amount to millions of Naira,” another local government chairman said.
