A plan by Wema Bank Plc to hide a fraud case which took place at their Iponri, Lagos State has been uncovered.

According to our source, the bank attempted to sweep details of a missing N6.5 Million belonging to the Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO) of Lagos State when their internal investigation revealed they were guilty of the offence been alleged.

www.theoctopusnews.com, was informed that having acknowledged their short-coming and agreeing to pay back the money they had handed over the culprit a teller identified as Olakunle Olatunbosun, who was employed by Wema Bank two years ago to the police hoping the case would either be settled out of court or would silently go to court.

Since the missing money was discovered two arrest have been made, while a staff of the bank has been sacked.

A panel setup by the bank worked on the theory that the disappearance of the N6.5 million could only have been the handiwork of either the teller or a certain Goloba who deposits money for the VIO office.

The panel, after investigating concluded that once Goloba deposited the funds, Olatunbosun stamped the customers’ teller only without stamping and filling the control copy, which is supposed to be dropped into one of the bank’s boxes.

When Goloba was confronted, he immediately presented all the stamped and signed tellers with him, proving that he had been faithfully depositing all the funds as required.

After an indept investigation, the panel declared that since the tellers with Goloba were stamped with the bank’s stamp and bore Olatunbosun’s signature, it would accept responsibility for the missing money.
