Famed gospel musician, Jacob Kunle Ajomale, has celebrated his highly anticipated 30 years on stage celebration.
The prestigious event, which took place at the Academy Inn, Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos held on Sunday, August 27.
Tagged ‘JKA at 30’, the colourful and eventful show, asides attracting heavy weights both in the political and music industries, also saw the artiste giving a good account of himself.
Some of the guests in attendanceat Kunle Ajomale’s event included Engr. Emmanuel A. Awode, Chief Henry O. Ajomale, Dan Imodu, Adebimpe Akinsola, Dele Oguntuase, Iyabo Agboola and Tinu Oyenuga. Others are Bar. Laide Osijo, Queen Ayo Balogun, Kunle Oladeinde, Funmi Aragbaye and Fola Laguda.
Those in attendance had the privilege of seeing the singer perform some of his old tunes including ‘Apata Ayeraye’ and ‘Gbe Agbelebure’, while also being treated to hits from his newly released album, ‘Grace’.
Some of the high points of the event were the launching of the singer’s musical studio and award presentation to notables such as late Mr. Olayiwola Jolaoso, Barrister Laide Osijo, Mr. Kunle Oladein and Joel Ajayi.
Kunle Ajomale’s music is in two folds. He minister in the church and entertain at functions. He can go choral; sing decent songs at parties, songs that do not necessarily have to be gospel, but soul lifting.
Asked who he has performed for, Kunle Ajomale reacted thus “I performed for the present Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu. He came to Washington too and danced to my music. I have played for the present Oba of Oniru, the late Oba of Benin, when I served in his palace and the present Oba of Epe, during his daughter’s wedding. The former Nigerian ambassador to the U.S, Professor Jubril Aminu once invited me to his house in Washington to appreciate me. I equally played at Pastor Bolu’s wedding in America, she is the daughter of Baba Enoch Adeboye. The fact is that my music really cuts across socio-political and spiritual realms”
